Nicole by O.P.I

Hey,

Me and Tamara are both nail polish fans – Tamara even has her own nail category (Tamara’s Nail Polish Collection) so it was no wonder I was excited to try their sister brand, Nicole by O.P.I.

THE VERDICT

Looking at all the colours, Nicole hasn’t got nearly as many as O.P.I (although that was to be expected) there were still lots of shades! I own two colours – be aware if you are going to buy from the website, the ‘try-it-on’ feature looks nothing like the actual colour. The shades I have are:

Fanatical Fuchsia – I LOVE this colour. This is a purple/magenta two toned colour with a ‘burple’ sheen that captures the light. The strong purple undertones create a deep colour, and the fact it’s two toned makes you want to just stare at it! I also find that if you apply a thin coat, the colour is much more pink and a thick coat much more purple. This is a unique shade which will add an edge to a floral outfit that is ‘oh-so-perfect’ for summer.

Sheer Fun – This is a light, neutral pretty pink with gold shimmer that adds a pretty twist. This colour is also dual-toned, but it’s a lot lighter than Fanatical Fuchsia. If you’re a person that likes a french manicure, you’d love the golden peach shimmer that radiates from the funky shaped bottle.

From what I gather the colours are really mixed so very different from normal nail polish (Tamara also has a watery black with weak red undertones, I can’t remember the name but that’s a great colour too and i’ve never seen anything like it before!) All the colours seem quirky and fun and quite different which I love and I’d for sure recommend you try a colour yourself.

On  a slightly less positive note they are quite slow to dry and can chip throughout the day :s but however they are still pretty good quality. You can buy them at boots for £6.95, which is cheaper than regular O.P.I although i don’t think this is sold in every boots so I recommend boots online (they have 24 shades). They also stock a lot of top and base coats, strengthening, moisturising, top coats – you name it!

So if you wan’t some fun, quirky and just quite different nail polish I recommend you check them out for yourself. 😀

Essie’s Brand New Resort Collection.

Hey there,

Essie have launched yet ANOTHER collection this year which is perfect for spring and summer now thats it’s FINALLY getting warm :D. So here are the swatches i found of the ‘Resort’ Collection…

These colours would compliment most summer outfits and are great for evenings too. My favourite one is the ‘Splash of Grenadine’ (great name :)) because i think it’s most versatile.

Hope you enjoy these gorgeous new shades…

Essie New Collection :D

Hey there,

Thought i’d let you guys in on Essie’s new wedding collection!

The colours are mostly shiny, polished-looking colours – these are great nudes that go with everything. They’re £9.00 each in selfridges/house of fraser, so i recommend buying them off ebay!

They also sell 4 mini bottles as a set which are a lot cheaper than buying mulitple colours separately. These are the colours that come in the set:

petal pink – a sweet and subtle creamy pink
walk down the aisle – a fresh and creamy white
show me the ring – an iridescent pearl
main squeeze – a shimmering lilac cream

Nail Polish Collection Update.

Hey there,

Just thought i’d update you guys on my nail polish collection 🙂

Firstly, i bought Buy Me A Cameo by Essie, which is brown with a strong rose-gold sheen – i love this one because it changes colour according to the light! This would compliment browns, beiges and neutral pinks.

I also bought Mint Candy Apple by Essie which is a matte minty-toothpaste colour – i received lots of compliments on this colour as it’s very unique. It makes a change from boring colours…

Lastly, i bought Absolutely Alice by O.P.I which is from the Alice In Wonderland Collection (click here to see the new O.P.I collection). It’s a deep electric blue nail polish with tiny silver and blue sparkles – it’s a really fun colour and is great for when your feeling in a fun mood!

How To Get Glittery Nail Polish Off.

Hey there,

I recently bought ‘Absolutely Alice’ by O.P.I, which is a sparkly blue nail polish.

I was really struggling to get it off, when my mum gave me a great tip: put another nail polish on top of the one you can’t get off, and it should come straight off! So, I tried it, and it really worked! There’s no trace of it on my nails, and it was much easier than scrubbing it off with nail polish remover.

Essie’s Lilacism, Pink Lemonade + My New Project.

Hey there,

I’ve decided that i’m going to start a nail polish collection.

This collection will be on my favourite glass shelf – lots of expensive bottles organized with serious colour co-ordination – it will be a shrine to all things beautiful.

The thing is, only expensive, nice nail polishes earn a place on my shelf of glory, therefore, you’d think i’d have to pay extra.

But you are wrong.

Feel free to browse through the most expensive nail brands there are – without feeling you can’t afford it.

Because you can.

There are hundreds of sellers on ebay selling every specific colour for half the price! And some sellers don’t charge postage and packaging if you buy a certain number of bottles (which is fine by me!)

Since my discovery, i’ve already bought 4 bottles…3 of Essie, one of O.P.I.

Two of the Essie’s have come, ‘Lilacism’ and ‘Pink Lemonade’. Lilacism is lilac (no prizes for guessing :D) and could be considered as neutral and as a colour. I’ve had lots of compliments on this colour, and i reckon you can get away with it in school.

Pink Lemonade is a gorgeous soft pink with a pearly sheen, and it’s the perfect colour to compliment a tan (the name reminds me of summer too.) It completes a polished look, or makes a less-than-polished look polished!

Just thought i’d share the news with someone…

Spring Nails Update.

Hey there,

This is going to be a quick post/notification of new spring collections (a la nail varnish)!

These are the new essie ones (my favourite), and they cost around £9 a bottle. They are available off ebay, asos, liberty’s and selfridges. Click here for the official site.

Here is the new O.P.I. spring range…

Below, there’s a special collection – ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is inspired by Tim Burton’s new film – these sell for £9-£10, and they’re a pain to find, so i would recommend buying them online. Click here to look at a UK authorised opi retailer…

And here are the chanel ones…£13 a bottle…i’d recommend scavenging on ebay…

So, the main colours this spring are nude, pretty, and soft (apart from O.P.I’s extra collection!) I’d recommend starting afresh this season with a lovely new nail polish – maybe you can buy one per season and build up a collection yourself (this is what i’m currently doing). My pick is Essie’s ‘Lilacism’ (the second one to the right on the first picture).

Remember to apply a base and top coat with any nail polish, but most importantly, have fun with the colours!
