My Favourite skin products

Hey,

I just thought i’d make a post discussing my personal favourite skin care products. I have dry, sensitive skin and although i suffer from a few small breakouts like most people i’ve never had problems with acne or spots.

Being a tad lazy I cleanse if i have had makeup on in the evening to get it off (sometimes twice) and apply moisturiser daily but that’s pretty much it….

Cleansers

I have a HUGE selection of cleansers in my bathroom cabinet so it’s fair to say i’ve tried my fair share of both the good and the bad!

Oil cleanser- Shu uemera is well known for their selection of oil cleansers and iv’e the one for sensitive skin and i like it

, it leaves my skin feeling soft and obviously clean but for £28 for 150 ml (roughly a 3 month supply) and £56.50 for 450 ml it’s extremely pricey. My alternative is origins clean energy gentle cleansing oil which at £16 for 200ml isn’t the cheapest but compared to shu uemera it’s little to pay for a cleansing oil which in my opinion is almost identical.

Soap & glory- i am (self confessed) extremely obsessed with soap & glory and particuarlly their skin care, i find their makeup to be quite hit and miss but it’s one of my faviourte skin care brands for the price, two cleansers i like by them are fab pore hot cloth cleanser which warms up after you’ve rubbedit on your face a trait i like but if you don’t like that feeling i don’t reccomend it; the clesndser leaves my pores noticeably smaller but i wouldn’t say it was the best for removing makeup however i really like it. The other soap & glory cleanser i like is the face soap and clarity 3 in 1 detox viamin c facial wash…. a mouthful i know! This product is enfused with plum which apparenly brightens the skin. Being an exfoliator it can be a tad harsh on the skin and the exfoliating beads are not small but as you rub this in is foams up and leaves my skin feeling extremlly clean without a trace of makeup and a lot smoother and even brighter than before.

So that’s my favourite cleansers a couple a don’t like are:-

l’oreals perfect clean foaming cream wash

– I had high hopes for this as l’oreals makeup is so good but was quite disappointed the product comes with a round exfoliating scrubber your supposed to add the product to and rub on to your face, even though the package says sothing i found it quite painful as well as sticky and it left my skin bright red and the scrubber was hard to get the dirt out of too.

neutrogena’s visibly clear 2 in 1 wash, mask cleanser- The idea of a wash and mask in one product sounded intruiging so i happily gave this a try the problem is i would only call it a mask if you apply it all over your face and manage to take off again in 5 seconds flat than maybe it would just about work but i find no matter how damp your skin and hands are the product sets on your face and your then supposed to leave it on for 5 minutes. Appart from this the product ok i find it quite messy and it leaves my face cleaner but thats about it, as for minimising spots i can’t really judge.

The only other thing i do to my skin is mouisturize when ever i get chance at least once a day, i have very dry skin and as with cleanser have tried a lot of moisurisers although there are not really and moisturisers that are bad (they all do the same thing) i definitely have two stand out favourites

clinique dramatically different moisturising lotion- This is part of the famous clinique 3 step skincare plan , i did try this and ended up getting a rash because of my skin being highly sensitive the mostuiser though i was totally fine with and it’s great its not cheap costing between £15 (50ml) and £27 but boy does it work it leaves my skin glowing and nearly baby soft and it keeps my skin moisturised for a good 24 hours, if you are intersted i do reccomend getting the smaller size though because after a few months it does loose it’s concistency slightly and fails to settle in to the skin.soap & glory wish upon a jar 21 day collagen overhaul cream- This is my absolute favourite skin product i recommend it to any one of any age, the collagen helps to remove fine lines but it also leaves my skin feeling bouncy and extremely smooth

and soft as well as making it look much more radiant and reducing discolouration i especially noticed a reduction in slightly red patches on my face and also a minimisation of dark circles. I was sad when my 21 days were up and continued using it anyway, It comes in a round jar which i quite like and cost £14.30 for 50ml so a tiny bit less than clinique but not a lot but i do find that because of being in an openable jar you can get every trace of product out which can’t be said for clinique. I do though prefer using it at night because it takes a while to settle into the skin and i’m not sure how well it would fare on oily skin, however i love it!

I hope you found this helpful 🙂

Sit Tight.

Hey there,

Sit Tight by Soap and Glory has been out for a while now (a month or so i guess) and i’ve really my time in trying it out. It’s a thigh firmer, which i don’t necessarily need yet, but none the less, i love the feeling of firm thighs.

The actual science behind the product is slightly genius – it’s ingredients are activated by heat, so you apply it onto your thighs and literally…Sit Tight!! I hate being conned by products, but i have tried S&G’s other leg firmers and felt a difference, so i, naturally, had high expectations for this product.

I am slightly fickle when it comes to packaging – if a product looks good, something inside me assumes the product itself is good, which is not a good thing! I love the packaging for this; a large mirrored silver tube – it looks great. The product itself comes out in a smooth white gel, and is absorbed within 30 seconds of applying it, which makes it easy to apply in the morning before you get dressed. It has a fresh eucalyptus/natural smell to it, and it instantly smoothes your thighs.

It definitely makes my thighs feel firmer, whether they look it – only time will tell. If you follow the blog, you’ll know i went on holiday to turkey a couple of weeks ago, i got five friends to tried it, and they all liked it. I ended up hiding the tube!

This is £14, but is justified by it’s firming power, and also, you get a hell of a lot in one tube. It’s a huge 200ml tube, and i doubt i’d finish it soon.

My Birthday Bags…

Hey there,

It was my birthday last thursday, and amongst my presents was a Soap & Glory’s The ‘All’ Set, which comes with 3 handy travel bags…

The first of the three is an on-the-go type product, as it’s a large lipstick wallet (big enough to fit any mascara in) which is also a perfect size for your handbag! I love the design as well – it’s in the style of most Soap & Glory products – slightly women-in-wartime/vintage, with a cute brown patent zip.

The second is extremely practical – it’s a stripy pink makeup bag with the same brown zip as before, and also has funky lining; it’s a rich brown satiny-type material with pink swirly font saying, ‘At Soap & Glory, we believe you shouldn’t have to spend an arm and a leg to moisturize one’ which is one of their fabulous puns 🙂 This is also extremely practical because the material is slightly padded, and this combined with it’s clever shape means there’s loads of room inside it! (there’s also room to cram extras in, if you are like me…)

It is close, but i think the third is my ultimate favourite (oh, and i put a lipstick in for size comparison…). This is because:

A: It’s see-through. What could be more helpful than that when your trying to look for something in the bottom of your makeup bag.

B: As it’s see-through, you can also use it in airports for the security barrier (unless i’m mistaken, and you actually enjoy shoving the entire contents of your makeup bag in a silly little sandwich bag)

C: Another high on it being see-through, the plastic material means it’s really easy to wash if there is a little spillage…

D: The zip is quite cool…so cool, i had to take a close up of it…

So, I recommend this to everyone and anyone who needs a good makeup bag i guess…:) Oh, and i almost forgot to mention…IT’S £8! For ALL of this!! Please correct me if you can find a cheaper alternative…

SuperEyes, SuperEyes :D

Hey there,

This product is juust the thing for you if you cannot get up in the morning. So, basically everyone :).

This is a moisturizing eye gel which is perfect for those mornings when your eyes refuse to open…It has highlighting properties, so when you apply makeup on top, you still get a little highlight.

The packaging is cute and simple – it’s a perfect size for when you’re on the go, but there’s a generous amount of product inside it. It retails at £8 and can be found in any boots store.

Some Like It Hot! By Soap & Glory

Hey there,

Today, I was looking at my favourite bath/shower products and ‘some like it hot’ by Soap & Glory screamed at me, and it struck me that it was ridiculous I hadn’t blogged about it!

For skiing or any sort of cold place you may be visiting, this is essential, but personally I find it vital in England to. It’s a ‘body softening thermal scrub’ that heats up when you rub it in. I honestly do not know how I managed to survive without it.

You rub a dollop of it on to your skin and…it heats up! Trust me, there are no shower/bath products that feel quite as amazing as this, and being Soap & Glory it’s filled with all sorts of skin softening ingredients. another bonus is that again being Soap & Glory it smells and looks incredible.

My only problem is that it is rather addictive so rubbing in more and more is inevitable, so in my case, it doesn’t last as long as it should but it’s such a great product – I recommend it to anyone – and at boots it’s now £5.00 from £7.50 so hurry up

Clean Mary – Soap And Glory.

Hey there,

Sorry for the break!! Here’s a review of a product i tried last night…

Now, Clean Mary is a ‘cleansing milk’ for all skin types. As usual, it smells equally amazing as any other soap and glory product, and, as usual, the packaging is spot on – cute and retro. To use, you apply it onto a dry face and massage it in, rinsing your face thoroughly afterwards – it also suggests that you apply a moisturizer comes in i.e. E45 Lotion (my choice everytime – click here to see why i love E45!)

This morning, my skin was exceptionally smooth, and small spots had healed. Definitely a product i’ll add to my skin-care regime!

Have your say – feel free to comment below telling us about any of your favourite skin-care products.

Solar Powder by Soap & Glory

Hey there,

Today I went on my first shopping trip of the week, and of course, no shopping trip is complete without a great deal more makeup at the end than at the beginning….

So, the first thing I grabbed was Soap & Glory’s Solar Powder – A bronzy pink sunkissed powder. It looks amazing –  and I mean AMAZING. The packaging is really cute, and on the inside is a handy mirror for on-the-go application. The actual product  is half dark bronzer and half light pink highlighter (the same idea behind ‘perfect 10’ by Benefit), and there is also a brush with it. I was slightly skeptical – it seemed too good to be true…

As soon as i got home I almost ran to try it on, and i wasn’t disappointed! This is one  of the nicest bronzers I have come across and I’ve tried quite a few. The colours mean you can use it anywhere you really want and the peel off is fantastic. It really just gives the perfect amount of colour without making me look like a carrot or a raspberry! Slightly brown but rosy at the same time (The idea behind Benefit’s ‘Dallas’).

If i were you, i’d hurry to grab this great bargain –  it’s down from £12.99 to £7.99 at boots…

Stay tuned for more reviews, tips and tricks of the trade.
